Making A Difference To People With Special Needs

Sarah Metcalf is based in Clackmannanshire but was born in County Durham. She has lived in several parts of the U.K. including Yorkshire and the Isle of Arran. It was from these rural, farming areas that her love of nature was founded.

She works primarily with polymer clay and needle felting but enjoys trying new experiences and is often dabbling with different mediums. Her style is bright, fun and quirky, she hopes that her crafts will make people smile.

She is mainly self taught, and discovered needle felting when she was employed as a Care Coordinator and accompanied her Service Users to a workshop. She was intrigued by this method soon began to experiment with it.

She came across polymer clay when she received a pack as a gift. Soon she was making jewellery and Highland Cows. She began giving them to friends and family and after being told on numerous occasions that she had to sell them, she began to attend Craft Fayres. Shortly after that she was approached about selling her goods in The Seagull Trust Art Gallery. She now works full time at her craft and thrilled with how successful it is becoming.
